You have to use preseeding and choose if you want to use static IP’s (which I do) or dynamic. The preseed part requires a webserver to serve the preseed files.

Does the VM boot at all..? If not, there’s something wrong. If it does, and preseeding is not configured correctly, you should end up with a VM that is started, but showing an error on the console, saying that it couldn’t download the preseed file.
